Manzanita Farmers Market Triple Up Bucks – www.manzanitafarmersmarket.com\/<\/strong><\/p>\n

The farmers market accepts SNAP benefits and with it the state funded Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) match.\u00a0 With Fulcrum\u2019s help they started to self-fund their own “Triple Up” SNAP match in 2025.\u00a0 This means that low-income residents triple their SNAP dollars at the market, getting $60 to spend every week that they use $20 in SNAP benefits.\u00a0 That money in turn goes directly to our local farmers and food vendors, many of whom are low income or SNAP recipients themselves.<\/p>\n

These funds will go directly to low-income shoppers to use at the market, and they will be spent at the booths of local farmers and food producers.\u00a0 SNAP match is an important tool for increasing the equity and community impact of the farmers market.\u00a0 It increases the buying power of low-income shoppers and creates an extra incentive to come to the market.\u00a0 The farmers market is a great place to learn about new foods and how to use them, access healthy fresh produce, and keep SNAP dollars circulating through the local economy.<\/p>\n

HUGGS – Helping us Give\/Get Support<\/strong> – Suicide prevention and other mental health support<\/p>\n

Smiley Salmon Harvest<\/strong><\/a> works with the fish hatchery and the Oregon Food Bank to catch and can hatchery Coho from fish traps for distribution to those in need. Local Neah-Kah-Nie High School students design can labels as a class project and are added during can labeling parties. The nonprofit is sponsored through Fulcrum Community Foundation to process donations and grants. Over 8,000 tins of 7.5 oz canned, local Coho Salmon were distributed in 2021. This is locally sourced fish goes directly to those in our community most. The foodbanks love having the canned salmon that\u2019s easily stored and has a long shelf life, with a small carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

Little Coasties<\/strong><\/p>\n

Little Coasties School is an early childhood education program on the North Oregon Coast. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, state-certified childcare with an emphasis on nature exploration, music and art immersion, and social-emotional skill development.<\/p>\n

Little Coasties School is overflowing with children, which is a great problem to have! as of summer 2026 we are working on renovating a building a few blocks away from our current location so that one program\/location can be for toddlers (aged 2-3.5) and the other for preschoolers (aged 3.5-5).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0MUTTZANITA<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Fulcrum is the fiscal sponsor for this fun annual event. \u00a0It\u2019s all about the dogs! Proceeds from the event are donated to Animal Haven By the Sea, United Paws & Tillamook Animal Shelter.<\/p>\n

Rainy Day Village Network<\/a> is organizing to provide community-wide (Rockaway Beach to Arch Cape) volunteer services\u00a0based on the concept of \u201cneighbors helping neighbors\u201d of all ages.\u00a0 The\u00a0national Village<\/a>\u00a0movement initially formed to allow seniors to confidently age in their homes through a network of neighborly support. They are working to become a program of\u00a0Villages NW,<\/a>\u00a0the regional, Portland-based organization.<\/p>\n

The Love Coalition<\/strong> \u2013 Shown above on a January 2017 March for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Nehalem.<\/p>\n

A second MLK Day celebration happened in 2018 \u2013 A whole weekend of events culminating in a day of service.\u00a0 \u201cThis MLK Day community members, family, friends, and strangers came together for one reason: The Power of Love. Three families in need were served during the 1st Annual MLK Day of Service in conjunction with\u00a0The Love Coalition<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Habitat for Humanity<\/a>\u2019s Ramps & Rails Program serving seniors, people with disabilities, and veterans in need of in-home safety modifications. Watch this video<\/a> to see the final product when Love is put into action\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 The event was covered in both the Daily Astorian<\/a> and the Oregonian.<\/p>\n

In response to a Fall, 2017, racially motivated graffiti hate crime in Nehalem, they are organizing bi-monthly \u201cLet\u2019s Talk About It!\u201dgroups and working with the schools for cultural diversity training and programs. Donations can now be made to Fulcrum in their name.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>MANZANITA MUSIC FESTIVAL<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 \u2013 There have now been two successful years \u2013 2016 and 2017 \u2013 of this July weekend festival. They also are raising money for band instruments in the Neahkahnie School District. Fulcrum is the fiscal sponsor so our 501(c)3 status helps them in their fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/a>MANZANITA PICKLEBALL CLUB<\/strong> \u2013 A group of pickleball enthusiasts are raising funds for a resurfacing of a combined tennis\/pickleball court at the Manzanita Park and are hoping for up to four dedicated courts on City of Manzanita Property near the water tower. Fulcrum is their fiscal sponsor.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

FRIENDS OF NEDONNA\u00a0MARSH<\/strong> \u2013 \u00a0www.friendsofnedonnamarsh.org<\/a>\u00a0\u2013<\/span>Fulcrum had agreed to provide 501(c)3 status for contributions for the protection of approximately 80 acres at the northern end of the Nedonna Beach neighborhood, two miles from Rockaway Beach, Oregon. However the Marsh has now been included in the territories preserved and owned by the Lower Nehalem Community Trust<\/a> as part of their Protect the Edge Campaign.<\/a>\u00a0Thus two salmon bearing streams,\u00a0native salt water marsh, a spruce\/willow wet lands with upland woods, and a dune area with many native plants are now under their permanent protection and stewardship.<\/p>\n

\"Spirit\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0MANZANI<\/strong>TA SPIRIT DANCE\u00a0<\/strong>was sponsored by Fulcrum on and off from 2008 \u2013 2017at Pine Grove Community House.\u00a0In 2018\u00a0due to high cost of insurance now considered necessary by Pine Grove.\u00a0 It moved to the White Clover Grange and is now under their sponsorship\u00a0 You can find updated information (as well as other similar dance opportunities) on the Manzanita Spirit Dance Facebook page.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0 <\/a><\/strong>Nehalem Valley Farm Trust<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong> \u2013 Only briefly under our aegis as they got their 501c3 in record time. Their\u00a0mission is to support a healthy agricultural community in Tillamook and Clatsop Counties by keeping farmland productive, providing resources to agriculturalists, and helping new farmers to enter the economy. Their vision is of a strong farm community that provides healthy food, economic opportunities (e.g. value added products) and fertile ground to grow a rural heritage on the North Oregon Coast. Their purpose as stated in their by-laws is to: (1) Own, rent or lease property in order to operate or partner to operate farm businesses; (2) Hold easements in order to preserve agricultural or ecological features of private land; (3) Provide agriculture-related educational experiences to farmers, landholders, community members and the public at large; (4) Provide and facilitate services that encourage a sustainable agricultural economy on the North Oregon Coast.<\/p>\n

\"Tikkun<\/a><\/p>\n

Tikkun Olam Performance \u2013 April 2014<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tikkun Olam\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Organized by Glenna Gray as a day of healing for the earth on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Tikkun Olam is a Hebrew phrase that means \u201crepairing the world\u201d which suggests humanity\u2019s shared responsibility to heal, repair and transform our planet. Activities included a community ritual, art show, discussion round table, and an evening of performances. Fulcrum contributed $100 towards expenses for the this event.<\/p>\n

One Night in Frogtown<\/strong><\/a>, a multi-media live professional stage show that highlights cultural diversity, was written and produced in Tillamook County by locals Phil Pelletier and Heather Christie. They do benefits nationally, involving children from each community they perform in. They have also produced a book with a CD. Fulcrum is currently a fiscal sponsor for grants to continue their education programming. They are in the process of applying for their 501c3 status.<\/p>\n

May 2014: Oregon Community Foundation gave Fulcrum\/Frogtown a grant for $15,000.\u00a0 June 2014: Frogtown is moving forward in partnership withNorthwest Health\u00a0 Foundation and will no longer need Fulcrum assistance.<\/p>\n

\"nbevolunteer\"<\/a>
\nNehalem Bay Emergency Volunteer Corps<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 It turns out that Emergency Planning is a marvelous community building tool. Neighbors in Manzanita, Neah-kah-nie, Nehalem, Wheeler and surrounding areas joined together to provide local residents, businesses and visitors with the necessary tools and information to be prepared in the event of an emergency here on the Coast. Fulcrum was proud to sponsor their project while they obtained their own tax exempt status. They now have a preparedness program that is the envy of many communities along the coast and even nationally.<\/p>\n

\"sealevel\"<\/a>
\nSea Level Gallery <\/strong>\u2013 This cooperative gallery of local artists sold $200,000 worth of art from its opening in Spring, 2006 to its closing in the Fall of 2010. Affected by economic hard times, Fulcrum helped it weather the Winter of 2009-10 by sponsoring a fundraising letter, a fundraising multi-musician event, and a series of grant proposals. This was a project that spoke to our interest in local economic development that includes a positive climate for earning one\u2019s livelihood through creativity. Unfortunately the gallery closed after the Summer of 2010.<\/p>\n

\"ncrd\"<\/a>
\nFriends of NCRD<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The North County Recreation District is a Special District of the State of Oregon with a tax base. However, when it was struggling with budget shortfalls and a subsequent organizational restructuring in 2008, a group of community members decided to set up a \u201cfriends\u201d organization that could become a 501c3 and accept donations on behalf of the center, including for capital improvements. Fulcrum sponsored Friends of NCRD while they worked to obtain tax exempt status. They are now functioning on their own.<\/p>\n

\"NeahcasaProject_sm\"<\/a>NeahCasa <\/strong><\/a>was a project of Fulcrum that obtained its 501c3 tax exempt status and went on its own as of January 2008. From 2005 until 2011, NeahCasa actively raised the issue of housing affordablity in our local communities. The group held a Tillamook County Housing Summit in the Spring of 2006 and government\/public policy outreach continues. Between 2007 and 2011, NeahCasa\u2019s Student Family Housing <\/a>program raised and donated over $34,000 directly to 96 families with housing issues to help 309 children stay in the NeahKahNie School District. This highly successful program was taken over by CARE<\/a> in Tillamook in 2011. Although the Board is only meeting annually at present, NeahCasa is structured as a Community Land Trust (CLT) continues to hold a vision for eventually developing a property with homes that would be affordable in perpetuity.<\/p>\n

\"HealingArtsGuild_sm\"<\/a>Nehalem Bay Healing Arts Guild <\/strong>\u2013 Fulcrum (as NBCCI<\/a>) sponsored grant requests for this group of local alternative healing practitioners to put out a cooperative brochure and coordinate a second annual Healing Arts Faire in September 2006.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
