Past &#038; Present"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>CURRENT PROJECTS<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Manzanita Farmers Market Triple Up Bucks &#8211; www.manzanitafarmersmarket.com\/<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The farmers market accepts SNAP benefits and with it the state funded Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) match.\u00a0 With Fulcrum\u2019s help they started to self-fund their own &#8220;Triple Up&#8221; Local Neah-Kah-Nie High School students design can labels as a class project and are added during can labeling parties. The nonprofit is sponsored through Fulcrum Community Foundation to process donations and grants. Over 8,000 tins of 7.5 oz canned, local Coho Salmon were distributed in 2021. This is locally sourced fish goes directly to those in our community most. Three families in need were served during the 1st Annual MLK Day of Service in conjunction with\u00a0<a class=\"profileLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OregonCoastLoveCoalition\/\" data-hovercard=\"\/ajax\/hovercard\/page.php?id=1839967389611805\" data-hovercard-prefer-more-content-show=\"1\">The Love Coalition<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"profileLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/habitat\/\" data-hovercard=\"\/ajax\/hovercard\/page.php?id=19774119425\" data-hovercard-prefer-more-content-show=\"1\">Habitat for Humanity<\/a>\u2019s Ramps &amp; Rails Program serving seniors, people with disabilities, and veterans in need of in-home safety modifications. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tillamookhabitat\/videos\/1640312716061530\/UzpfSTE4Mzk5NjczODk2MTE4MDU6MjAyMTQyMTM2NDc5OTczOQ\/\">Watch this video<\/a> to see the final product when Love is put into action\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 The event was covered in both the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyastorian.com\/Local_News\/20180115\/after-realizing-the-area-had-no-mlk-day-celebrations-a-new-neighbor-starts-her-own-in-manzanita#.Wl0Xpxmzquc.facebook\">Daily Astorian<\/a> and the Oregonian.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a Fall, 2017, racially motivated graffiti hate crime in Nehalem, they are organizing bi-monthly \u201cLet\u2019s Talk About It!\u201dgroups and working with the schools for cultural diversity training and programs. Their vision is of a strong farm community that provides healthy food, economic opportunities (e.g. value added products) and fertile ground to grow a rural heritage on the North Oregon Coast. Tikkun Olam is a Hebrew phrase that means \u201crepairing the world\u201d which suggests humanity\u2019s shared responsibility to heal, repair and transform our planet. Activities included a community ritual, art show, discussion round table, and an evening of performances. Fulcrum contributed $100 towards expenses for the this event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/frogtowncentral.com\/\"><strong>One Night in Frogtown<\/strong><\/a>, a multi-media live professional stage show that highlights cultural diversity, was written and produced in Tillamook County by locals Phil Pelletier and Heather Christie. They do benefits nationally, involving children from each community they perform in. They have also produced a book with a CD. Fulcrum is currently a fiscal sponsor for grants to continue their education programming. Fulcrum was proud to sponsor their project while they obtained their own tax exempt status. Affected by economic hard times, Fulcrum helped it weather the Winter of 2009-10 by sponsoring a fundraising letter, a fundraising multi-musician event, and a series of grant proposals. This was a project that spoke to our interest in local economic development that includes a positive climate for earning one\u2019s livelihood through creativity. Unfortunately the gallery closed after the Summer of 2010.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ncrd-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-77\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ncrd-1.png\" alt=\"ncrd\" width=\"250\" height=\"105\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncrdnehalem.org\/\">Friends of NCRD<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The North County Recreation District is a Special District of the State of Oregon with a tax base. However, when it was struggling with budget shortfalls and a subsequent organizational restructuring in 2008, a group of community members decided to set up a \u201cfriends\u201d organization that could become a 501c3 and accept donations on behalf of the center, including for capital improvements. Fulcrum sponsored Friends of NCRD while they worked to obtain tax exempt status. They are now functioning on their own.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/NeahcasaProject_sm-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-79\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/NeahcasaProject_sm-1.jpg\" alt=\"NeahcasaProject_sm\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neahcasa.org\/\"><strong>NeahCasa <\/strong><\/a>was a project of Fulcrum that obtained its 501c3 tax exempt status and went on its own as of January 2008. From 2005 until 2011, NeahCasa actively raised the issue of housing affordablity in our local communities. The group held a Tillamook County Housing Summit in the Spring of 2006 and government\/public policy outreach continues. Between 2007 and 2011, NeahCasa\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neahcasa.org\/student_project_description.htm\">Student Family Housing <\/a>program raised and donated over $34,000 directly to 96 families with housing issues to help 309 children stay in the NeahKahNie School District. This highly successful program was taken over by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.careinc.org\/\">CARE<\/a> in Tillamook in 2011. Although the Board is only meeting annually at present, NeahCasa is structured as a Community Land Trust (CLT) continues to hold a vision for eventually developing a property with homes that would be affordable in perpetuity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/HealingArtsGuild_sm-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full
