{"id":247,"date":"2016-02-10T21:52:17","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T21:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fulcrumresources.org\/?page_id=247"},"modified":"2016-02-10T21:52:17","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T21:52:17","slug":"non-profit-networking-2015-16","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/?page_id=247","title":{"rendered":"Local Non-Profit Collaboration Project 2015-16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong>UPDATE Spring\u00a02017:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We spent a couple of months during Fall 2016<strong>\u00a0exploring\u00a0the feasibility of establishing a paid community volunteer coordinator position and community volunteer database that would be shared among local non-profits.<\/strong> A committee of Fulcrum&#8217;s Barbara McLaughlin &amp; Lane deMoll, as well as Laura Swanson (Year of Wellness) and Victoria Stoppiello (White Clover Grange) sent out a query with job description to local organizations to see if they had interest and buy-in matching funds for\u00a0grant applications. <strong>Downloadable PDF of the first cut of the Job Description<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fulcrumresources.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Job-Desc.Community-Volunteer-Coord-1.pdf\">job-desc-community-volunteer-coord<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>However, the project wasn&#8217;t able to find traction for forward movement. There was cautious interest but no real buy-in from local groups. Laura Swanson is\u00a0heading up that effort. As of September 2016,\u00a0<strong>the notebooks are now complete and will be available at the Manzanita Visitors Center and the Manzanita and Rockaway Branches of the Tillamook County Library<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On Monday February 15, <strong>Melissa Carlson-Swanson from Oregon Food Bank<\/strong> gave an absolutely marvelous <strong>all-day presentation on working with volunteers<\/strong> to 6 of us. Let&#8217;s hope we can arrange to do it again for those who missed it. (Fulcrum got kudos on the lunch we provided.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">* Thursday, March 31<sup>st<\/sup> 9-11 at NCRD Kitchen<strong>:\u00a0Steph Routh, from The Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN), \u00a0facilitated a\u00a0meeting about technology.<\/strong>\u00a0 This meeting focused on ways to effectively communicate electronically\u00a0via\u00a0Google Docs and other collaborative tools for taking and reviewing notes and Doodle as a group scheduling tool. Crowd funding platforms were also discussed.<\/p>\n<p>* Monday, April 4<sup>th<\/sup> 3-5pm at the Beehive in Nehalem<strong> &#8211;\u00a0We\u00a0explored the bigger picture of our local nonprofit collaboration efforts.<\/strong>\u00a0 What does our networking look like?\u00a0 Is it a web? Do we want to strengthen it?\u00a0 If so, how?\u00a0 Can we infuse our activities with \u201cweb\u201d intention?<\/p>\n<p>* Thursday, April 28<sup>th<\/sup> 9-11 at NCRD Kitchen<strong> &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Topic was\u00a0<strong>FUNDRAISING<\/strong> &#8211; all the different ways we&#8217;ve used over the years. No magic solutions were found but good ideas shared. \u00a0And a hope for a panel of experts to present in the future.<\/p>\n<p>* Monday, May 9<sup>th<\/sup> 3-5pm at the Beehive in Nehalem<strong> &#8211;\u00a0A further web\/networking\/collaboration meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>* Thursday, June 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; The\u00a0Nonprofit Council at the White Clover Grange <strong>&#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0While enjoying a Thai dinner that Fulcrum provided, <strong>we\u00a0reviewed what had taken place since December and talked about\u00a0how we might want to move forward.<\/strong> The big hope is for funding for a community volunteer coordinator funded in part by the key organizations making use of such a person and an outside grant&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPDATE Spring\u00a02017: We spent a couple of months during Fall 2016\u00a0exploring\u00a0the feasibility of establishing a paid community volunteer coordinator position and community volunteer database that would be shared among local non-profits.
